2023 Disaster Prevention and Mitigation x Sustainability Grand Prize Application Outline
1. Purpose of the Award
The purpose of the award is to recognize activities and achievements related to the SDGs and the improvement of resilience in disaster prevention and disaster mitigation by using the evaluation method newly established by the Association for Disaster Reduction and Sustainability Technology. The award is given in recognition of the contribution and diffusion of activities and achievements related to the improvement of resilience and SDGs in disaster prevention and mitigation.
Application, Selection and Review Process
Applications are accepted from individuals, organizations, single or multiple organizations. Applications can be submitted by individuals or groups, single or multiple individuals. To apply, please download the application form from the special website URL listed in “5. Please refer to the example of how to fill out the application form at the same URL.
As described below, there will be 2 awards and 4 categories of prizes. All applications will be selected and reviewed by a committee of experts affiliated with the Association, which will determine the appropriate category award based on the attributes of the applicant based on the results of its activities and other factors.
Disaster Prevention/Mitigation x Resilience Award
This award is given to activities that have a high resilience aspect in contributing to the construction of a sustainable society.
City Category Award: Municipalities (prefectures, cities, towns, and villages)
Company Category Award: Various organizations including private companies
Disaster Prevention and Mitigation x SDGs Award
This award is given to activities that are highly SDG-oriented in terms of their contribution to the creation of a sustainable society.
Academy & Junior Academy Category Award
Academic and social contribution activities, academic research on next-generation energy, disaster prevention/mitigation education, etc., and volunteer activities during disasters are eligible.

Solution Category Award
Organizations, including private companies, that have a history of research, professional development, or development of systems, technologies, and products, as well as achievements, plans, and concepts for such activities.
Awards and Publication
Global, Japan, and Community Awards will be presented for each category. However, there may be no winners.
The awards ceremony will be held as shown in the schedule below. If you give us permission to publicize the award winners, we will announce the selection results on our website and in the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun.

Result Notification Late December 2022
Award Ceremony February 1, 2023 At the “Disaster Prevention Industry Exhibition” sponsored by the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun (February 1 – 3, 2023) February 1-3, 2023)
This will be held as a real award ceremony with an online awarding system.
